This July, two fashion conferences will be held—one in Lagos and the other in Abuja—offering fashion entrepreneurs valuable networking opportunities. In Ethiopia, the Creative DNA Ethiopia business incubation program will support ten early-stage, Ethiopia-based fashion businesses. Meanwhile, Nigeria’s leading fashion media platform, FashionEVO, has partnered with Fashion Connect Africa, an emerging Ghanaian fashion and social enterprise, ahead of FashionEVO's fashion show and summit at the 2025 Africa Creative Market.

THE FASHION LAW INSTITUTE TO HOLD FASHION LAW AND BUSINESS CONFERENCE THIS JULY

The Fashion Law Institute is a pioneering pan-African initiative founded in 2021. It is dedicated to improving intellectual discourse, legal literacy, and professional standards at the intersection of law, fashion, and business. The Institute is set to hold the fourth edition of its annual Fashion Law and Business Conference, with the theme centered around "Financing the Future of African Fashion."


Set to take place in Lagos on 26th July at the British Council, the conference will bring together industry professionals, legal experts, and fashion entrepreneurs, presenting them with various opportunities in the African fashion industry. In addition, the conference will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions, workshops, masterclasses, and networking opportunities.

THE FASHION ACADEMY TO HOLD "EVOLVE" FASHION CONFERENCE THIS WEEKEND

The Fashion Academy is a private vocational school located in Abuja, Nigeria. The Academy is aimed at training young Nigerians who are interested in pursuing a career in the fashion industry. The Academy is set to hold a fashion conference titled EVOLVE, an annual event with the theme "Looking Inward," on the 18th and 19th of July.


The conference will feature masterclasses, runway shows, panel discussions, and a marketplace. The two-day event is sponsored by the German Cooperation and endorsed by the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy.

THE CREATIVE DNA ETHIOPIA ANNOUNCES OPEN CALL FOR 2025

Creative DNA Ethiopia is a business incubation programme that supports early-stage fashion entrepreneurs in Ethiopia. The programme is in partnership with the British Council and Iceaddis (an Ethiopian innovation hub and tech startup), and it will support ten Ethiopia-based early-stage fashion businesses.


Following the success of its first and second editions in 2023 and 2024, the third edition tagged 3.0 will last for six weeks. Successful applicants will have access to networking, microgrants, and opportunities to collaborate, learn, and grow in a supportive environment.


The deadline for applications is 1st August 2025.

CREATION AFRICA FORUM ANNOUNCES OPEN CALL FOR DIGITAL FASHION CREATORS

Creation Africa is an initiative launched by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs to celebrate digital creativity across the continent. As part of this initiative, the Creation Africa Forum will take place in Lagos from October 16–18, 2025.


An open call has been announced for digital fashion creators in Africa to showcase their work at the event. The Forum will select ten innovative fashion projects that creatively merge fashion and technology—ranging from 3D design and augmented reality to AI, virtual fashion, wearable tech, and the metaverse.


To be eligible, projects must be at least three years old and demonstrate strong integration with digital tools or platforms.


Application deadline: July 25, 2025.

FASHIONEVO TO HOLD FASHION SHOW AND SUMMIT AT AFRICA CREATIVE MARKET 2025

The Africa Creative Market is a platform dedicated to advancing the continent’s creative industries—including film, music, fashion, art, photography, AR/VR, sports, and entertainment. Its fourth edition is set to take place from September 16–19 in Lagos, Nigeria.


As part of its fashion programming, the Creative Market has partnered with FashionEVO, one of Nigeria’s leading fashion media platforms known for its coverage of African and global lifestyle, fashion, culture, art, technology, and beauty. FashionEVO will host both a fashion show and a fashion summit during the event.


To broaden the reach and impact of its showcase, FashionEVO has also teamed up with Fashion Connect Africa, one of Ghana’s emerging fashion and social enterprise. This three-way collaboration fosters cross-country engagement between Nigeria and Ghana—strengthening regional ties and spotlighting the richness of African fashion on a larger stage.

STYLE LOUNGE WEEKEND TO HOLD THIS JULY

The Style Lounge Platform is a fashion showcase curated by Debonair Afrik, one of Africa’s leading fashion publications.


This July, the platform will host Style Lounge Weekend, a two-day event featuring showrooms/pop-ups, masterclasses, panel discussions, and a fashion party under the theme “African Fashion Future.”


The event will take place from July 25–27 at Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, The Galleria, in Accra, Ghana.


Several African brands will participate, including Sisé (Nigeria), Boyde (South Africa), La Maison Kantys (Côte d’Ivoire), Aku Adjasam Kwaw (Ghana), and many more.
