A recent study reveals that the second-hand clothing sector supports the livelihoods of 2.5 million Africans and employs 1.28 million people. The trade contributes over $73.5 million annually in tax revenues across five African nations, driving employment and providing affordable apparel to low-income households.

South African brand Excelsior Lusso wowed audiences at UNESCO Africa Fashion Week in Paris with its latest collection, "S’hlo bo Sam." Creative director Mac Mashilo showcased designs that blend African influences with haute couture, featuring winter hues and intricate patterns. Established in 2021, Excelsior Lusso continues to elevate South African fashion on the global stage.

The Africa Fashion exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) in Melbourne showcases the creativity and global impact of contemporary African fashion. Featuring over 250 pieces from nearly 50 designers across 22 African countries, the exhibition takes visitors on a journey from the 1950s era of independence to present-day fashion innovation. Curated by Dr. Christine Checinska from the Victoria and Albert Museum, the show highlights the political and cultural significance of fashion in Africa through clothing, photography, film, and music.
