South Africa's textile imports saw a notable increase of 8.4% from January to September 2024, totaling millions in Rand ($ million), compared to the same period last year. However, exports decreased by 1.7%, reflecting a shift in trade dynamics. In September, imports fell by 3.2% year-on-year, while exports rose by 2.6%, marking a change from the previous month. This trend highlights a shift in South Africa's textile trade, with increased demand for imported goods, even as the export market shows some resilience..

South African fashion designer Sindiso Khumalo is making a grand statement as she curates In Full Bloom, an exclusive pop-up at Merchants on Long, a renowned concept store for African design. This vibrant installation features a blend of bold prints, sustainable craftsmanship, and matriarchal heritage. Khumalo brings together a diverse selection of designers, including Gugu by Gugu, Namana’s handcrafted raffia bags, and a collaboration between Luminous Ware and Khoe Wool, showcasing hand-dyed knitwear.
