3. African Fashion Week Seattle - 11th May 2024




Calling all talented designers! Showcase your unique African-inspired fashion designs at the Annual Africa Fashion Week Seattle. Register now to be considered for this vibrant and diverse showcase of African fashion styles.




 


4. Fashion Education Scholarship Program (FESP) 2024 - May 6th, 2024,

 



The Fashion Law Institute's, which closes on the 12th of April is offering free legal consultations to designers and fashion professionals. Our mission is to provide tailored legal assistance to address the unique needs of the fashion industry. Each designer is paired with a volunteer attorney and an advanced student, offering expertise and support. If you're a designer seeking legal advice or an attorney willing to volunteer, contact us to learn more. Please note that spaces for consultations are limited, so don't miss out on this valuable opportunity.



 

5. The Real Leather, Leather Design Showcase 2024 - The deadline is the 7th of July 2024.



The Real Leather. Stay Different. Africa Talent Leather Design Showcase 2024 is back for its second year, celebrating Africa's top designers working with leather and natural materials. This event highlights emerging talent while promoting sustainability in fashion. Designers are invited to submit their creations online from March 20th to June 7th, 2024. The showcase, organized by Real Leather. Stay Different. and ALLPI, offers exposure and a chance to win prizes. The competition is open to designers and students from ALLPI's member states.

 

6. Africa's Young Fashion Leaders Fellowship - May 31st 2024




Calling all aspiring fashion scholars. Join CIAFE for the third edition of Africa's Young Fashion Leaders Fellowship. 1. The CIAFE African Fashion Research Fund (AFRF)


Introducing the CIAFE African Fashion Research Fund (AFRF)! We're offering micro-research grants to early-career researchers exploring African fashion and textiles. Grants range from $100 to $250 and cover research-related costs. If you're part of our African and Diaspora Fashion Research Network, apply now! Dive into topics like traditional textiles, contemporary trends, sustainability, and more.



 


2.Pierre-Antoine Vettorello Art, Fashion, Research and Reflections - Deadline is July 1st, 2024


The Yarn #2 is seeking contributions for its upcoming issue, "On Colonial Violence in Fashion Museums." This zine provides a platform for individuals impacted by or aware of colonial violence in fashion. Led by researcher Pierre-Antoine Vettorello, the initiative aims to shed light on overlooked experiences in fashion museology. The focus of this issue is on colonial violence evident in fashion museums, encompassing themes like colonial plunder, erasure of indigenous stories, and perpetuation of colonial knowledge systems. Contributors are invited to address topics such as the 'coloniality' of land, class distinctions, and the restitution of indigenous textiles.
