1. Fashion Law Masterclass - June 30th 2024



Join the 2024 Fashion Law Masterclass. Gain essential legal tools to build a thriving fashion brand in this comprehensive two-day workshop covering fashion law and business, compliance, brand protection, contracts and negotiations, and employment issues, with a bonus session on fashion finance/tech. 2. Merck Foundation Awards - 30th of September 2024




Calling all African fashion students and designers! Showcase your talent and make a difference by applying for the Merck Foundation Fashion Awards - More Than a Mother 2024. Submit your original sketches to submit@merck-foundation.com with the subject line 'Merck Foundation FASHION AWARDS More Than a Mother 2024’. Limited to African Fashion Students and Designers.


 



 



3. NABA Boosts Your Future - 5th July 2024




In a bid to foster academic excellence, NABA is launching the "NABA Boosts Your Future" Undergraduate Scholarship Competition. This initiative offers international students a chance to receive a 15% discount on tuition fees for Undergraduate Programmes starting in October 2025 at the Milan or Rome campuses. Eligible programmes include Fashion Design, Fashion Marketing Management, Graphic Design Art Direction, and more. Applications are open until July 5, 2024. All courses are available in English and Italian. 




 


4. Senior Merchandiser/Buyer at Africa Fashion International (AFI) - June 5th, 2024,

 




Africa Fashion International (AFI) is seeking a passionate and organised Senior Merchandiser/Buyer to join their dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with a keen interest in fashion and strong organisational skills to contribute to a leading fashion platform.



 

5. The Real Leather, Leather Design Showcase 2024 - The deadline is the 7th of July 2024.



The Real Leather. Stay Different. Africa Talent Leather Design Showcase 2024 is back for its second year, celebrating Africa's top designers working with leather and natural materials. This event highlights emerging talent while promoting sustainability in fashion. Designers are invited to submit their creations online from March 20th to June 7th, 2024. The showcase, organised by Real Leather. Stay Different. and ALLPI, offers exposure and a chance to win prizes. The competition is open to designers and students from ALLPI's member states.

 

6. "Africa Fashion" exhibition - July 20th 2024




As part of the "Africa Fashion" exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), several exciting workshops and programs are scheduled for July. Highlighting the vibrant African fashion scene, these workshops offer a hands-on experience for visitors of all ages. On July 20, artist-run organisations Next in Colour and Yo City will present free monthly programs as part of the NGV Residencies.




 

7. Fashion Business PRO Workshop - No Deadline




Join the Fashion Business PRO workshop, a comprehensive 6-month program designed to equip aspiring fashion designers, marketers, and entrepreneurs with essential skills and knowledge. Through a blend of in-person and online sessions, workshops, and projects, you'll delve into fashion design, history, merchandising, marketing, and business management.

1. The CIAFE African Fashion Research Fund (AFRF)


Introducing the CIAFE African Fashion Research Fund (AFRF)! We're offering micro-research grants to early-career researchers exploring African fashion and textiles. Grants range from $100 to $250 and cover research-related costs. If you're part of our African and Diaspora Fashion Research Network, apply now! Dive into topics like traditional textiles, contemporary trends, sustainability, and more.



 

2. The British Council’s Grant - 23rd June 2024




The British Council’s Architecture, Design, and Fashion team has launched the British Council Grants 2024. These grants offer up to £5,000 for biennales and festivals in the UK and abroad. This initiative aims to foster collaboration between UK and international designers, supporting participation costs like travel and production. Applications are open now until June 23, 2024.




 


3. Pierre-Antoine Vettorello Art, Fashion, Research and Reflections - Deadline is July 1st, 2024




The Yarn #2 is seeking contributions for its upcoming issue, "On Colonial Violence in Fashion Museums." This zine provides a platform for individuals impacted by or aware of colonial violence in fashion. Led by researcher Pierre-Antoine Vettorello, the initiative aims to shed light on overlooked experiences in fashion museology. The focus of this issue is on colonial violence evident in fashion museums, encompassing themes like colonial plunder, erasure of Indigenous stories, and perpetuation of colonial knowledge systems. Contributors are invited to address topics such as the coloniality of land, class distinctions, and the restitution of indigenous textiles.
